Let’s learn about Islam (Friday 1st May)

Islam is a religion that people from all over the world follow. People who follow the religion of Islam are called Muslims. Today we are going to find out about the special place where Muslims go to pray.

Muslims go to a special building called a mosque to meet together to pray. Mosques can be big and grand or small and ordinary. First I would like you to watch the first three and a half minutes of a short film about a Muslim family living in the United Kingdom. You can watch the whole film if you want, but there are three questions to answer below from the first part of the film. Can your grown up ask you the questions below to see if you have been listening carefully to the film?

BBC Schools Watch, Places of Worship, Islam

Now can you watch this power point which is all about a small mosque in Wales. There are sound buttons so you can hear me read the words to you.

The mosque

When you are finished can you ask your grown up to ask you the questions about the power point?

Questions to ask about the mosque.

I hope that you enjoy finding out about Muslims and mosques.

If you are still curious you can watch a short clip from a Muslim children’s program called Adam’s World.

Salam alaykum السلام عليكم
